To begin

Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment in order to fill out the health history form.  This form will provide me with updated health information so that I can prepare a safe and effective treatment for you.  All information is kept strictly confidential.

Treatment

In addition to the actual massage, your treatment will include; discussion of your chief complaint and goals for the treatment, postural assessment and possible testing to determine the condition of your muscles and joints, exercise, and self-care recommendations.  Your consent is required for any testing and the treatment itself.  You may disrobe as much or as little as you are comfortable with.  Only the area being worked on will be uncovered.   Hydrotherapy, (the use of heat or cold), may be used.  Various techniques will be applied and varying amounts of pressure used depending on your response.  If something becomes uncomfortable, it is your right to ask to modify or stop the treatment at any time.  I use hypoallergenic oils and gels.  Please inform me of any allergies.

After your Treatment

It is important to note how you feel after your treatment.  How is your emotional state?  How do the areas of your body that were worked on feel?  I encourage you to share any changes with me.  As part of your session, I may prescribe some self-care.  This may include drinking water, a hot bath, hot or cold applications, and exercises.  Following through with self care after a massage will greatly increase your benefits.
